There are three types of TLS/SSL certificates:
- Domain Validated Certificates (DV)
- Organization Validated Certificates (OV)
- Extended Validation Certificates (EV)
These certificates differ in their level of security, which is ensured by the issuing Certificate Authority (CA) through varying degrees of validation processes.
The type of certificate used for a website can be identified by the padlock symbol in the browser’s address bar and, depending on the validation type, additional information.
